Considering the wrong Hitler and his followers have done, it may seem strange to make a website like this. That’s why I’ll try to explain what this website is about. First of all we need to say that this website doesn’t have anything to do with wrong political movements or ideas. I’m just an amateur historian with an interest in the dark pages of national socialism and the historic figure of Adolf Hitler. A lot of people from all over the world share that interest, a lot of times without wrong intentions. They visit the Obersalzberg or go to Berlin to look for the Hitler bunker. And I wanted to do the same.
But when I started this project I found out that planning a trip was hard to
do, especially when it came to some of the less wellknown places. The exact locations of some Hitlersites are hard to find. Local gouvernments don’t want to be associated with Hitler, so they’re not always willing to share information. I can understand why, but from a historic point of view I, for instance, couldn’t understand why there was nothing that reminded of the Hitlerbunker in Berlin. Today there’s a sign giving the information, but there are still lots of places all over Europe that can be related to Hitler that are not so wellknown to the public.
Combining internet sources, touristic guides, biographies and all kinds of pictures led to a list of locations, with very much on it that wasn’t on the internet yet. And that’s exactly the information I wanted to share with everyone with a historic interest in Adolf Hitler. On the website you can find a combination of the exact location of a Hitlersite with a picture or a short comment.
There are people who make money out of information like this, by selling books, pictures etc. I decided I didn’t want to make money on this subject, but there are some books available on the internet that have parts of the information we give here. We sometimes mention interesting websites without political intentions, that give good information.
On our trips we sometimes come across sad things in the present. For instance, on the Obersalzberg, on the spot where Hitler’s Kampfhäusl used to be, we found some candles that had been burned in Hitlers remembrance. The people that do things like this can also use this website as a source. We are aware of that. That’s why we find it important to repeat that this website is not a candle we light for Adolf Hitler, but, we hope a warning sign. Follow the links at our Poland - Auschwitz page to get the best warning there is. Learn from history, don’t missuse it!
